Snow White

One of my more glamorous weddings this year was held at Hever Castle Astor Wing for Natalia and Mauricio. A gorgeous couple whose taste for the classy and elegant was reflected in their wedding choices. For the flowers they wanted just whites, a favourite for many couples teamed with silver grey and grey green foliages. A first for me were the beautiful white tie backs they asked for to dress the pretty white curtains in the ceremony room set up by Becky at Your Beautiful Day. The mechanics took a little thought but the results were just what we envisaged and was truly a 'wow centerpiece' and central focal point for the ceremony.

People often ask about availability of flowers in the winter. November is typically a little more scant than the other months but generally there is still a lot of choice, so long as you can be flexible. It's true, the lighter summer flowers are over, but there are plenty of old favourites to give a luxurious and generous result. We used many white hydrangeas throughout, in the candelabra on the wedding tables, the mantle piece arrangement and the long top table runner and interspersed with white roses, dianthus, spray roses, gypsophila and waxflowers.

One of the most dramatic pieces for this wedding was the floral table plan at the entrance to the Astor Dinning Room. We made the bespoke frame and filled it with fresh roses, spray roses, hydrangea and dianthus. The piece was re-used in the evening with a new sign inserted, to welcome evening guests.

The table centrepieces were made in silver candelabra topped with white candles and they were matched with long garlands of flowers on the mantlepiece and with a mirror effect, a runner of fresh flowers along the length of the top table interspersed with white Church candles.

Small pieces of Olive foliage were placed at each table setting, bringing a special natural finishing touch to a beautiful and exceptioally tasteful day.
